New Coach for the 2009 Season

The Monsoon, Tucson Women’s Football team has some exciting news! We are pleased to announce that Coach Vincent Smith will be our new head coach for the upcoming season. Coach Smith has an impressive track record. He played as an offensive lineman for both our Arizona Wildcats and the Oakland Raiders, which were the Los Angeles Raiders at the time. He has coached at Tempe High School, Desert Ridge High School, and Tucson High School, all in Arizona. As well as a couple high schools in Los Angeles. He is currently the head coach at Tucson High School, and has been there for three years. Coach Smith has worked very hard at turning around the Tucson High Football program and for the first time in twenty years he was able to lead them to the 5A division 1 play off. Coach Smith was also awarded the Tucson Citizen Football Coach of the Year for 2008. Over the last four seasons Coach Smith has been one of our biggest fans not missing a single Monsoon home game. Coach Smith says that he “looks forward to a good season” this year with the ladies, and that he is excited about the “enthusiasm, and dedication” the ladies have. The Monsoon is very lucky to have Coach Smith and he will be import an important asset to the success of our team in the coming season.
